Food Service Manager

Supervise production/preparation, delivery and service of meals in accordance with established standards of nutrition, health and sanitation. Collaborate with Nutrition Consultant to plan nutritious meals and snacks for Head Start children, parents and staff. Perform administrative tasks in support of the food preparation process, including documentation maintenance of records.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with parents and Nutritionist to Plan meals menus
2. Purchase and Maintain proper receipts of food items to ensure quality and cost
3. Maintain proper storage and control of waste on a daily basis
4. Prepare and serve food
5. Supervise and Train aides and volunteers
6. Maintain proper purchased records, meals served, and inventory
7. Supervise maintenance of equipment, kitchen and during areas
8. Maintain good sanitation and safety practices, including personal appearance and hygiene
9. Participate in food related learning activities including:
a) Eating with children periodically
b) Introducing new food to children and others food related learning experiences
c) Including children in assisting with food preparation and clean up
10. Participate in planning for parent nutrition and consumer education
11. Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

1.      High School Diploma or GED

2.      Required to obtain DOH Food Service Manager Training Certificate and must keep it up to date

3.      Should have a minimum of one (1) years of experience in preparing quality recipes basic cooking skills and experience

4.      Must demonstrate the ability to plan and coordinate kitchen activities to insure proper meals meal service

5.      Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and work within the requirements of both Head Start Performance standards and the Child and adult food care program

For over 50 years, the EOC of Nassau County, Inc., has provided programs and services to low-income Nassau County residents. During the past year, approximately 41,000 unduplicated low-income children, youth, individuals, and families accessed EOC programs and services.
