Widely recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October also
calls to mind another important issue: Domestic Violence. This year, on
October 16th, the EOC hosted an afternoon of inspiration and education
to EOC staff members and clients, to equally shed light on both issues.
The keynote speaker, Mrs. Theresa Leak Deaver, CEO/Founder of
Lillian and Lillian Foundation, delivered a powerful message about
her personal experience with domestic violence. Talented EOC staff
members also contributed their gifts to the event: Ms. Danielle Darty
and Ms. Charleen Allen shared wonderful words of inspiration through
poetry, Ms. Ebony Nesbitt, Head Start Family Service Worker shared
inspiration in song and Ms. Augusta Uwechue conducted a clinical
presentation on breast cancer prevention self-examination.
