EOC History During the last 40 years, EOC has played a significant role in advocating for the low-income minorities and disenfranchised, assisting them in overcoming the artificial barriers that impede their progress. Our commitment has been demonstrated through activities that have resulted in changing Nassau County institutions to be more responsive in establishing new institutions and program initiatives that improve the quality of life for people who live in poverty target communities in the county. Health care, HIV/AIDS, housing, drug abuse prevention, education, employment, infant mortality, youth leadership, vs. youth violence and economic development are just a few of the issues addressed through our Family Development Centers, Head Start Early Childhood Development Centers, Displaced Homemakers program, Down State Prenatal and Healthy Start programs, HIV/AIDS Outreach and Awareness, and Youth Development programs.
